Materials

  • Four group members

Goal

Create graphs of motion for a person walking, jogging, skipping and running. Your graph should have time on the X axis, distance on the Y axis, and at least three data points.

Questions

  1. Describe the procedure you used to collect data for your graphs.
  2. How could that procedure be improved?
  3. Would you describe the motion in your graphs as constant? Why?
  4. Using your graph, how could you determine the speed of the person moving?
  5. Think of a problem that you may encounter outside of the classroom that could be solved using graphs of motion. What is the problem and can graphs of motion be used to help solve it?
