Using Equations

Steps

1. Create a table of your givens. Put a question mark in the box of the given you are looking for. Cross out any boxes that you aren't going to use.

2. Based on your givens, select which equation you are going to use and WRITE IT DOWN. Equations and a units table are on the sidebar.

3. Plug the numbers (leave the units out) into the equations and do the math to solve for the unknown.

4. Put units after your final answer.

Problems

  1. A plane accelerates from an initial velocity of 0 m/s to a velocity of 40 m/s in 20s. What is its acceleration? (2 )
  2. A bowling ball is initially at rest when someone kicks it. It accelerates at 4 Formula for 0.5s. What distance does it travel? (0.5 m)
  3. A car starts moving at 3 m/s and ends at 6 m/s. The period of acceleration takes 5 s. What is the distance the car covered? (22.5 m)
  4. An object accelerates from 10 m/s to 5 m/s with an acceleration of -2.5 Formula. How long does this acceleration take? (2 s)
  5. How much distance is covered by a runner who accelerates from 1 m/s to 5 m/s  with an acceleration of 2 Formula? (6 m)
